Thank You Pacific Life Foundation

Bacon Academy extends their appreciation to the Pacific Life Foundation as well as nominating member and BA parent Chris McGlynn, for their generous donation for a technology grant!
The grant allowed Bacon Academy to acquire a portable sound system to provide enhanced sound capabilities for large scale student events. Thank you so much!

Writing Center Tutors Present at the SSWCA National Conference at UConn

Last week the tutors in the writing center practicum presented at the Secondary School Writing Center Association’s national conference at UConn.  The tutors presented a workshop entitled, “Writing Center Outreach: Building Agency and Community for the Future.”  This workshop highlighted the writing center’s outreach initiatives and provided an opportunity for other writing centers from around the country to create their own actionable outreach projects during the breakout sessions.  To present, the tutors submitted a proposal and annotated bibliography and were selected from over 70+ submissions.  The conference provided the tutors an opportunity to attend presentations and workshops led by other writing center experts and tutors from across the country.  To attend the conference, Kaylee Manning (the writing center coordinator)  successfully applied for and received a travel grant from SSWCA.  And a special thank you to the Student Council for their generous support that also contributed to the writing center’s ability to attend the conference.

News From the Kitchen!

Things are cooking in Family and Consumer Science! Bake Shop 1 recently twisted up some delicious pretzels and will soon be baking loaves of bread for the Colchester Food Bank. Bake Shop 2 ran their own cookie business, choosing recipes, calculating costs, producing their treats, and selling them to staff. Culinary 2 wrapped up a soup unit, serving up favorites like French onion, southwest corn chowder, and baked potato.

Sophomore/Junior Class Field Trip - Six Flags, Friday, May 15th

It's time to sign up for Six Flags!  The junior and sophomore classes are going to Six Flags on Friday, May 15th after school.  The cost is $90 which includes transportation, park ticket, a meal voucher, a snack voucher, and an unlimited drink wristband.

You can get a permission slip from Burroughs, Olzacki, Hahnel, or the main office.  JUNIORS must return permission slips and money to Hahnel, and SOPHOMORES must return them to Burroughs or Olzacki.  Permission slips and money are due at the same time, and you are not confirmed for attendance until we have both!  The final due date for permission slips and money is Thursday, April 2nd.

You must also pay all class dues before you can attend the field trip.  Pay them ahead of time or at the same time as your Six Flags ticket.  Contact your class advisor if you don't know how much you owe.

Yearbook Baconian 2026

Yearbook Baconian 2026     $90
     Theme will be revealed soon!
  • More details will be released regarding the theme and other highlights inside the yearbook.

Link to purchase: Bacon Academy Yearbook
  • Payment plans are available online or directly with Ms. Berardo in room 2135.
  • In person - Drop off a cash amount to hold your yearbook online and pay a portion each month or make final payment at pickup of the yearbook in May
  • ** Payment plans means you are committed to purchasing the yearbook

  • There is a limited quantity still available to purchase. Once that quantity is gone - there are no additional yearbooks to purchase the day of distribution.

  • Students should check school email to see if a yearbook staff member has contacted them recently - Staff will indicate, when possible, how many times a student is in the yearbook. Students and parents should keep an eye out for personal updates via email from our yearbook staff.

  • DONT WAIT until you see it to try and  buy it - It will be too late then! (in the past we have had a lot of extras to purchase - this will no longer be the case!) In the past yearbooks could be purchased without pre-ordering. That will be significantly cut back so the only guarantee of obtaining a yearbook is to purchase one ahead.
