Bacon Academy is proud to highlight our own student author! Karah Pensa, who is currently in her junior year at Bacon, wrote a post-nuclear war dystopian novel. She wrote it over 5 months during her Freshman year, overwhelmed by the news of the war in Ukraine. She then went through, with the help of some friends, the arduous task of proofing and editing. She designed the cover and worked hard to get it properly formatted for Kindle Direct Publishing. This week, Karah’s book was officially released on Amazon. (https://a.co/d/2aB7vVg)

Members of the 24-25 Environmental Club were honored by the Arbor Day Foundation for their work promoting native tree species through the Tree-Plenish tree planting event. For the past 3 years, the club members have planted native tree species around the Colchester community for residents at their request through purchase of the saplings. In addition, several native tree species have also been planted on campus.

Families and students are reminded that all students should bring their school issued chromebook to school charged and ready to go each day. Students who forget their chromebook may sign out a loaner chromebook from the LMC for the day, which must be returned by 2:10 prior to dismissal. Families will be notified by phone when a second chromebook is signed out, to provide awareness for the responsibility of the additional device.

A Financial Literacy class for teens and young adults is being offered by ‘The American Place,’ on select Saturdays in September and October at the Park Street Library in Hartford. See this Flyer for more information.
