HOMECOMING

The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 24th, 7 P.M. -10 P.M. in the Bacon Academy Courtyard. Tickets are on sale until Thursday 9/22 for $15.00. Everyone purchasing a ticket must turn in a permission slip. Students who are absent on Friday, September 23rd may not attend. Doors will open at 7:00 P.M. and lock at 8:00 P.M. At all dances, students must enter no later than one hour after the start of the dance except by prior permission from a member of the administration. The dance ends at 10:00. Parents will be notified by phone from an administrator if students depart before 9:00 P.M.

Pay to Play for Fall 2022

Pay to play deadline has passed!  Please pay online using this link.  Please create an account even if you opt not to use the online payment portal. Receipts of payment (online, cash or check) will be emailed via My Payments Plus.com. Payment of cash or check are also accepted and can be dropped off in the main office. Checks must be made out to TOWN OF COLCHESTER. 

The fee of $180 must be paid by September 15th, student athletes will not be eligible to play or practice if the fee is not paid. Contact Danielle Bossie by phone or email ([email protected]) for questions or concerns. 

C3 is sponsoring the Choose Love bus for the Celebrate Colchester event this Saturday. Our PEP group worked so hard to fundraise to make this happen! Come hear an amazing message of nurturing, healing love from Scarlett Lewis at 2 pm! We hope to see you there!

 

Project Graduation Meeting 9/22

Please join us for our first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 22 at 7pm in the BA Library Media Center. Parents from all grades are encouraged to get involved as fundraising takes place throughout all four years of high school. The mission of Bacon Academy Project Graduation is to enhance drug and alcohol-free awareness by providing safe and healthy graduation events for all graduating seniors of Bacon Academy, Colchester, CT. BA DRAMA CLUB

Have you ever wanted to be an actor? Have you ever wondered what’s going on behind the scenes of a play? The Bacon Academy Drama Club is looking for actors and stage crew members! If you are interested in learning about acting, costuming, or set design come to the informational meeting on Tuesday September 6th after school from 2:30 until 4 in the Bacon Academy Auditorium.

  • Email is the best way to contact.  Please register your email into POWERSCHOOL

  • All students should have one copy of ALL their music.  

Brass players should have a straight mute.  Jazz trumpets should have a Cup mute.     

Percussionists should have a bag with one pair 2b/5c sticks, yarn mallets  

       and medium tympani mallets.

  • Encourage practice. Great student musicians have a scheduled routine.  Have you heard

your student play recently?  Do you know how they’re progressing? Let me help.

  • Concert dress is in the handbook, please assist your Band student.

  • Grading is based on Rehearsal Behavior, Performance Attendance, and Technical Skill.

  • Freshmen have a playing requirement in January to determine the following year’s placement.

TOP:  Solid White Long Sleeve Blouse, cover arms.

          No stripes, polka dots, colors, bling appliqué.   

       Be Modest, please.     

BOTTOM: Solid Black Completely covering legs (see above for Solid Black definition)

             Full length skirt or, Knee length skirt with black tights or leggings, or

             Solid Black Slacks, no jeans.  

             Solid Black Dresses conforming to the above are permitted.

FEET: Solid Black shoes, toes not showing           

BOYS:

Senior portrait scheduling

Legacy Portraits is excited to share their cover letter that will help families fulfill their senior's portrait needs. Whether it be for the yearbook or for personal use, the experience should be fun and seamless!  Sessions are being offered through the summer and in the fall.  If you have any questions, please call Susan McKiernan in the BA main office (860) 537-2370.  

The next session is Thursday, October 13, 2022 and Friday, October 14, 2022 from 2:30 to 8:00 PM.

 

College Representative Visits

College representative visits will begin the week of 9/12.  Students should check their Naviance calendar for a full listing of college visits and can sign up to attend through Naviance. *Students, please stop by the school counseling office in advance for a pass to attend the visit*  A great opportunity for students to speak with college reps and the application readers!

 

College Financing Virtual Workshop

Exploring Financial Aid & Cash Management Solutions virtual workshop will be held on Wednesday, 10/19, at 6pm.   The workshop will review the following topics:  Need based aid information, resources for Merit Aid, FAFSA vs CSS profile, tax code incentives, tuition discounting, and minimizing student loans.  This event is open to all parents district wide.  Please follow the attached link to register in advance for this event.   Click Here to Register

Dual Enrollment Classes: 

Students please check in with your teachers to see enrollment instructions to obtain dual enrollment college credits in some of your classes.  ECSU, Uconn, Gateway Community College, Three Rivers Community College and the University of Bridgeport. If you haven’t brought your payment for ECSU classes, please bring payment to the School Counseling Office.  Uconn registration, enrollment and payment are all online through their portal.  Gateway, Three Rivers and The University of Bridgeport will be registering this month.  

 

2022 PSAT:

 

For Sophomores:  Registration and Payment are not needed - this is a school wide PSAT and no actions are needed.

Information about College Board

Test scores are being released for the PSAT and SAT exams for both Sophomores and Juniors. When the School Counseling Office receives any hard copies of your tests, we will contact the students to visit us and pick them up.  Most times, students are notified directly from the College Board via email about their test scores being ready to view.  College Board Accounts are not managed by the School Counseling Office and are only available to students.  Students must keep their user name and password for access.   https://www.collegeboard.org/   Please visit the College Board website to access your materials, or if you have questions concerning sign on, their direct number is 866-630-9305.
