The Bacon Academy Student Council is hosting a Halloween costume contest on Monday, October 31st. For those students who would like to dress up, please read the following guidelines below: 


  • Regular school rules regarding the dress code must be followed. 

  • NO masks will be allowed 

  • NO hard plastic toy or facsimile guns/ weapons (swords, play knives, etc.) are allowed.

  • Students may not wear anything suggestive or provocative in nature. Costumes that are overly graphic,promote violence or otherwise might logically be assumed to be offensive to others are not acceptable.

  • Costumes should not include items with sound effects, lights or other components which would disrupt the classroom learning environment.

  • Nothing may be worn that promotes the use of illegal substances or activities, derogatory or disrespectful or portrays violence. 

  • Costumes must not interfere with the student’s duties and responsibilities at school. Costumes should be comfortable to wear.


Anyone who does not follow the Halloween Costume Guidelines will be subject to the dress code violation consequences and/or further disciplinary action. Please make every effort to keep this day fun and safe for all students. 





The School Meals Assistance Revenue for Colchester public schools will provide funds through November 30, 2022. On December 1, 2022, the district will revert to charging for meals. Please feel free to submit a  Free and Reduced Lunch Program application.


8th Grade Showcase November, Thursday November 17

You may have just started 8th grade, but soon you will need to make decisions about high school and the many options that are offered to you as a Bacon student. On Thursday, November 17th, Bacon Academy will be hosting an 8th Grade Showcase Night.  The evening will begin at 6pm on Thursday, November 7th in the Franklin “Doc” Gross auditorium.   We invite you and your parent/caregiver to attend this most informative night.   We look forward to seeing you on November 7th and welcoming you to the Bacon Academy Family!



Bacon Academy's Business Club will meet on Monday, November 7th, right after school in Room 3130.  We will be having a guest speaker talking about Teen Drivers and Insurance.  All students are welcome. Come be a part of the discussion, the activities and of course the snacks!


Yearbook PHOTOS

On Thursday Nov 3rd - A photographer will be here to do retakes from picture day. In addition - If you were absent on the 1st picture day - you should also be getting your picture taken on Nov 3rd also. This is necessary for administrative purposes as well as having your portrait in the yearbook. If a photo is not taken on either picture day - There will not be a photo available of you to put in the yearbook


Yearbook SALES

The 2023 Yearbook is currently on Sale - The price is $65 until November 18th. After that the price increased by $10 for the remainder of the year. Students can Scan a QR code on one of the Jostens posters at Bacon Academy to get order information. Orders are completed online.  In addition, If you are receiving emails from Jostens - this is the yearbook company. Please take a look at them for information and offers.


Yearbook Recognition ADS

SENIORS only. Families of SENIORS who would like to place a Recognition ad in the 2023 yearbook should upload their information to the Jostens Website.

The final deadline is January 24th.

2022 Fall Sports Picture Day Information 


Juniors!  Class dues are being collected during the month of October. 


Dues are $10 per year and help cover the cost of senior trip, shirts, and gift, plus the Junior Prom DJ.  Any unpaid dues will be added to the cost of your prom ticket!  You can pay dues before school in front of the LMC, during certain lunch waves, or directly to Mrs. Burroughs in room 3160.  

Tutoring at Bacon

Bacon Academy National Honor Society is excited to again offer free tutoring for all students K-12, in all subject areas.  The flyer has all the information you need to sign up. 

Senior portrait scheduling

Legacy Portraits is excited to share their cover letter that will help families fulfill their senior's portrait needs. Whether it be for the yearbook or for personal use, the experience should be fun and seamless!  Sessions are being offered through the summer and in the fall.  If you have any questions, please call Susan McKiernan in the BA main office (860) 537-2370.

Dual Enrollment Classes: 

Students please check in with your teachers to see enrollment instructions to obtain dual enrollment college credits in some of your classes.  ECSU, Uconn, Gateway Community College, Three Rivers Community College and the University of Bridgeport. If you haven’t brought your payment for ECSU classes, please bring payment to the School Counseling Office.  Uconn registration, enrollment and payment are all online through their portal.  Gateway, Three Rivers and The University of Bridgeport will be registering this month.  

*New this year is our partnership with the University of Bridgeport: They will be offering dual enrollment credits for the following courses: Accounting I, Business Law (both 3 credits) and Pre-Calculus (4 credits) for $50 per credit fee.  Registration, enrollment, and payment will be on a portal through the U of B - details will be given out in these classes.




School Counseling Website/Information


Information about College Board

Test scores are being released for the PSAT and SAT exams for both Sophomores and Juniors. When the School Counseling Office receives any hard copies of your tests, we will contact the students to visit us and pick them up.  Most times, students are notified directly from the College Board via email about their test scores being ready to view.  College Board Accounts are not managed by the School Counseling Office and are only available to students.  Students must keep their user name and password for access.   https://www.collegeboard.org/   Please visit the College Board website to access your materials, or if you have questions concerning sign on, their direct number is 866-630-9305.
