The Writing Center's Annual Scary Story Contest

The Writing Center’s Scary Story Contest is back!  Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to submit a scary story using the QR code on the flyer attached here, or on the flyers posted around the halls or in their English teacher’s classroom.  The first place winner will receive a gift card for a large pizza and all honorable mentions receive a candy bag. All entries must be submitted no later than October 26th by 2:15.

2022 Fall Sports Picture Day Information 


Juniors!  Class dues are being collected during the month of October.  

Dues are $10 per year and help cover the cost of senior trip, shirts, and gift, plus the Junior Prom DJ.  Any unpaid dues will be added to the cost of your prom ticket!  You can pay dues before school in front of the LMC, during certain lunch waves, or directly to Mrs. Burroughs in room 3160.  


Tutoring at Bacon

Bacon Academy National Honor Society is excited to again offer free tutoring for all students K-12, in all subject areas.  The flyer has all the information you need to sign up.

Senior portrait scheduling

Legacy Portraits is excited to share their cover letter that will help families fulfill their senior's portrait needs. Whether it be for the yearbook or for personal use, the experience should be fun and seamless!  Sessions are being offered through the summer and in the fall.  If you have any questions, please call Susan McKiernan in the BA main office (860) 537-2370.

College Financing Virtual Workshop

Exploring Financial Aid & Cash Management Solutions virtual workshop will be held on Wednesday, 10/19, at 6pm.   The workshop will review the following topics:  Need based aid information, resources for Merit Aid, FAFSA vs CSS profile, tax code incentives, tuition discounting, and minimizing student loans.  This event is open to all parents district wide.  Please follow the attached link to register in advance for this event.   Click Here to Register

Dual Enrollment Classes: 

Students please check in with your teachers to see enrollment instructions to obtain dual enrollment college credits in some of your classes.  ECSU, Uconn, Gateway Community College, Three Rivers Community College and the University of Bridgeport. If you haven’t brought your payment for ECSU classes, please bring payment to the School Counseling Office.  Uconn registration, enrollment and payment are all online through their portal.  Gateway, Three Rivers and The University of Bridgeport will be registering this month.  

*New this year is our partnership with the University of Bridgeport: They will be offering dual enrollment credits for the following courses: Accounting I, Business Law (both 3 credits) and Pre-Calculus (4 credits) for $50 per credit fee.  Registration, enrollment, and payment will be on a portal through the U of B - details will be given out in these classes.

*If you haven’t paid your fee for the ECSU dual enrollment classes - please send payment in to the School Counseling Office.

*Three Rivers registration deadline is Wed Sept.28th.  

*Uconn is still allowing registration - please complete all portions on their portal.

*Gateway dual enrollment is an electronic application - parents/guardians please make sure you approve your section for the process to be completed.

Information about College Board

Test scores are being released for the PSAT and SAT exams for both Sophomores and Juniors. When the School Counseling Office receives any hard copies of your tests, we will contact the students to visit us and pick them up.  Most times, students are notified directly from the College Board via email about their test scores being ready to view.  College Board Accounts are not managed by the School Counseling Office and are only available to students.  Students must keep their user name and password for access.   https://www.collegeboard.org/   Please visit the College Board website to access your materials, or if you have questions concerning sign on, their direct number is 866-630-9305.
