BA WINS CUPCAKE WARS

Three students from Bacon Academy, Kayla Balser (sophomore), James Brownson (senior), and Avery Denker (senior) competed in the Regional Cupcake Wars competition on Thursday, April 28, 2022, held in Clinton, CT.  Students, along with their Family & Consumer Sciences teacher,  Ms. Tracy Marvin, worked hard after school to test and develop their flavors.  Ultimately students decided to submit a pistachio cupcake with pistachio fudge filling and strawberry Swiss Meringue buttercream decorated with handmade fondant flowers. Students presented their cupcakes to the industry judges and were awarded First Place for their cupcake's exceptional taste, professional presentation, and knowledge of their product.

THE BA DRAMA CLUB PRESENT CLUE ON STAGE

The Bacon Academy Drama Club presents Clue On Stage! If you are looking for a funny show with a hilarious cast of characters, this is for you! Show dates are Friday, May 20th at 7 pm and Sunday, May 22nd at 2 pm. Tickets are $15 and $10 for Bacon students (must show student ID). Tickets will be sold at the door and during lunch waves the week of the show at Bacon Academy.

GOLF AND BAND MATTRESS FUNDRAISER MAY 22

If you are in the market for a new mattress this event could be great for you! The flyer provides all the information. There will be over 25 beds on display for customers to try. The beds are new, brand name, made to order, available in all sizes, and cost less than retail stores.  In addition to beds, there will also be luxury pillows, sheets, and even adjustable power bases! It's On! BA Project Graduation Cornhole Tournament 6/4 at Hop Culture, Student Prizes!

Get your game on! Our 2022 BA Project Graduation Cornhole Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 at Hop Culture in Colchester. Student teams are welcome and will be eligible for their own cash prize as well as a complimentary raffle ticket for some great prizes. Cost per student team is $40, or $20 per student. Adult teams are $80 per team, mixed adult/student teams are $60. Our event sponsor is RJ's Lawn Care, LLC.

STUDENT ATHLETE CELEBRATORY SIGNING DAY

Bacon Academy will host a Student Athlete Celebratory Signing Day on Friday May 27th between 12pm-3pm in the Gym Lobby. All interested athletes should email Mr. Burke at [email protected] with a time request. Athletes will be scheduled for 10 minute time slots. Time slots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Time slot requests should be made on the hour and every 10 minutes. Ex: 12pm, 12:10pm etc. All athletes and invited guests will enter and exit the gym lobby from the back parking lot. Please use the paved path between the gym and the portables that host health and business classes to enter the gym lobby. Do not enter or exit from the front of BA.

1032 T-SHIRT ORDERS

Hello All, We will celebrate former Bacon Academy Boys Lacrosse players Jake Chapman and Tyler Graham on 5/19/22 at Bacon Academy during our Girls and Boys Lacrosse doubleheader vs. Ledyard. The Girls game will start at 4:30pm and the Boys game will start at 6pm. We are calling this 1032 Day, the numbers of Jake and Tyler. Please find the link below to order your 1032 T-shirt. Pre-order sales will end on 5/5 at 11:59 pm. The T-shirt logo was designed by BA graduate Hannah Holmes (2020). I have included tax in the overall price of the T-shirt to make everything simple. BA will receive a little more than a dollar for every T-shirt sold and we will donate the proceeds to the memorial fund. All T-shirts will be delivered to me on 5/17 and we will hand them out at the 1032 celebration on 5/19. Please bring a copy of your order form to pick up your shirt that day. We will also have T-Shirts available for purchase that day at the games. The T-shirt cost is $20. We are encouraging everyone to purchase a T-shirt online. We will close the parking lot to the field that day and have 3 food trucks available - Oz N Bones, Rolling Tomato and Jumping Cow Ice Cream. We are asking everyone for a $5 donation to enter the games that day. Please park in the front parking lot and walk down to the field for the games and celebration. Here are the Bacon Band activities for the end of the year

May 18, 11AM-1PM- JAZZ BAND

The jazz band will play at Founder's Day at Old Bacon Academy.

A during school Field trip

Dress code and specifics to come.

May 20, 10am-Noon. ALL BAND

The Band (all of them) will play at McDonald's as part of a

GRAND RE-OPENING. 

The students will play at the ceremony and will be treated to lunch.

May 22, 10AM. - 5PM.

The Mattress Sale at the BA Gymnasium

There is a possibility of a Jazz band performance during this day.

May 29, Memorial Day Parade

Students will meet at WJJMS at 12:15PM.

They will be dismissed from the small green across from Noel's at approx 1:30PM

Dress code and other info to follow.

June 9, Final Concert, 7pm

More specific information will be provided as each event approaches.

Please stay healthy to be part of and at these events.

Spring Pay to Play

Spring pay to play is due. The fee is $180 per player. Pay online here. Payments can also be made via cash or check made out to THE TOWN OF COLCHESTER, and dropped in the main office. If you have met the family max for the year please fill out this form.  Financial waivers are available in the guidance office if needed. 

SENIOR CLASS NEWS

Senior Trip

  • Trip is Friday June 3rd to Block Island

  • Cost is $40  + any dues still owed for each school year

  • Permission slips are outside room 2135 or on google classroom for Class of 2022

  • Sales are May 9- May 13 BUT students can drop off money with their permission slip prior to that in room 2135

  • Those that did not attend prom and still owe any dues will have those dues added to their ticket price

  • NO REFUNDS after Monday May 16th - regardless of the reason; This means illness, upcoming and unexpected sports events or any other issues

Senior T-Shirts

  • Seniors are receiving t-shirts on Friday during advisory and will have a group photo taken as well for the Yearbook

  • After a lot of hard work - we were able to make this happen

Senior Class of 2022  10% NIGHT

  • Fresca will be hosting a 10% night Fundraiser for the Class of 2022 on May 23rd 

  • Please try to include that in your dinner plans for take out or eat in - more to follow!

The winning essay, selected by members of the Bacon Academy English Department, will be read by the winner at graduation.  The essay topic is “Appreciation of Our Own”.

Service Academy Night

On Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 7pm, the Connecticut Congressional Delegation will be holding their annual Service Academy Night (VIRTUAL EVENT) for students and recent graduates who are interested in attending one of our nation’s preeminent military academies – U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the U.S. Naval Academy.  This will be a great opportunity for students to meet with representatives from each of the academies.

Information about College Board

Test scores are being released for the PSAT and SAT exams for both Sophomores and Juniors. When the School Counseling Office receives any hard copies of your tests, we will contact the students to visit us and pick them up.  Most times, students are notified directly from the College Board via email about their test scores being ready to view.  College Board Accounts are not managed by the School Counseling Office and are only available to students.  Students must keep their user name and password for access.   https://www.collegeboard.org/   Please visit the College Board website to access your materials, or if you have questions concerning sign on, their direct number is 866-630-9305.
