NEW EXPECTATION FOR VAHLS TO ENGAGE

As we begin the new semester next week, we will be changing the expectation that all students must have their computer camera turned on for all classes.  Many other high schools in eastern CT have had this expectation all year, and it has not been a hardship for their students, so we will follow suit.  The reason why we are making this shift is to increase student engagement in their classes, help teachers better teach and assess their students, and promote more class community on a daily basis.  When students sit behind a blank screen, the teacher doesn't know how engaged the students are, and it makes it difficult to help them.  We feel this small, but significant, change will help our students be more successful.  Thank you for supporting this expectation with your children.

Bacon Academy Winter Athletic Information 1/15/21 Message for all Athletes

Athletes, please come to school prepared for practice on the 2 days you are in school. We have to limit the number of athletes in the locker room at one time after school. It would be easier if you were already dressed for practice and only had to change into basketball or running sneakers etc. Most athletes could do this at a safe distance from other athletes with a mask on. All athletes coming to practice on the days they are learning from home should report dressed and prepared for practice, right to the practice area with a mask on. Athletes will be able to store athletic bags for the day in the locker room but it is preferred that they don't use the locker room if they can help it. Locker rooms will be off-limits 7:35am - 2:15pm. They will not be opened for any reason.  Athletes are not allowed to use lockers or store any equipment overnight in the locker room. All equipment should be cleaned at home before coming to school/practice the next day. We know that this is not an ideal situation. We have put these protocols in place to help us continue to play sports as we move forward. MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE BUILDING!!!!!!!  All athletes should use the door by the girls locker to enter Bacon for practice. You can access the door from the back parking lot at BA. Parent drop off and pick up should be from the back parking lot.  Please use  Bacon Athletics website page for all Winter Sports registration and sport physical information.
