Spring planning has started for the Bacon Academy Project Graduation events! The January newsletter has our latest fundraisers!
PJ’s and PREP
Attention freshmen! Midterms are rapidly approaching and the National Honor Society has just the thing for you! PJs and Prep will happen on Thursday, January 19, from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Bacon Academy cafeteria. Wear your comfiest pajamas to study for midterms with your friends, free cookies and hot chocolate will be available for all attendees!
The BAmbassadors club is hosting a charity drive for the town and is looking for adult sized hats, gloves, mittens & socks to donate to town social services. There will be boxes in each school lobby to collect items. We will be collecting from Jan 23rd to Feb 10th.
GIRLS LACROSSE MEETING
There will be a girls lacrosse meeting on Tuesday, January 24th at 230 in the health room. We will discuss the season, our schedule, collegiate lacrosse as we have several seniors going to play at the next level, captains, and more. We are looking forward to a great season and could use more players. Please attend this meeting if you are on the squad or if you are interested in joining.
S.T.E.P.S. Annual Young Women's Leadership Day
S.T.E.P.S. (Striving Toward Empowered Personal Success) was founded in 2008 with the mission to empower girls and uplift communities by providing young women the tools necessary to build lives of integrity and self-sufficiency through positive choice. S.T.E.P.S. continues to build stronger girls for a stronger world.
S.T.E.P.S.’ Annual Young Women's Leadership Day is on Saturday, March 11th at Mitchell College in New London from 9:00 – 4:00, and is free for girls in grades 6-12 in southeastern Connecticut. Students will have a choice of activities to participate in. Below is the website for additional information along with the link to register.

BA Theatrics Pride and Prejudice
Calling all aspiring actors! BA Theatrics will be holding auditions for the Spring play, Pride and Prejudice. If you are interested in helping bring this classic story to the stage please attend the informational meeting on January 23rd at 3:30 in room 3155. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FIREFIGHTING AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
Bacon Academy will be partnering with the Colchester Hayward Fire Department to offer an after school program focused on firefighting and emergency service related projects. The program will run Tuesdays from 2:30 - 4:00 starting in January and running through the end of the school year. See Mrs. McKiernan in the main office if you are interested.
Colchester will be hosting a virtual Family Night presentation on January 25, 2023
The topic is "Level Up Services." During this presentation you will get to meet our district's Level Up Counselor, Jocelyn Ocelik, learn about the services offered through this FREE program, how to apply, and eligibility requirements. This presentation is appropriate for families of students ages 15+ who currently receive Special Education or 504 services. To join, please RSVP to Danielle Poirier at [email protected].

Personalization of a yearbook: Closes January 27th; Personalization means putting a student's name and/or icons on the front of the yearbook or purchasing other add-ons. Yearbooks can still be purchased after Jan 27th but personalization can NOT be added after 1/27
Yearbook Business ADS
If you have a business or know of a business that would be able to buy an advertisement that will promote their business in our 2023 yearbook - please email Ms. Berardo at [email protected] for pricing and information. We can put in anything as small as your business card up to a full page and our yearbook staff can assist you in creating an AD if you would like!
Seal of Biliteracy
The Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition on the transcript, diploma, and at graduation of being proficient in two (or more) languages. The testing window for Bacon Academy students (class of 2024) is March 12-25, 2023. Payment and demographic information must be submitted prior to March 1st to be eligible. Dual Enrollment Classes
Students please check in with your teachers to see enrollment instructions to obtain dual enrollment college credits in some of your classes. ECSU, Uconn, Gateway Community College, Three Rivers Community College and the University of Bridgeport. If you haven’t brought your payment for ECSU classes, please bring payment to the School Counseling Office. Uconn registration, enrollment and payment are all online through their portal. Gateway, Three Rivers and The University of Bridgeport will be registering this month.
*New this year is our partnership with the University of Bridgeport: They will be offering dual enrollment credits for the following courses: Accounting I, Business Law (both 3 credits) and Pre-Calculus (4 credits) for $50 per credit fee. Registration, enrollment, and payment will be on a portal through the U of B - details will be given out in these classes.

Information about College Board
Test scores are being released for the PSAT and SAT exams for both Sophomores and Juniors. When the School Counseling Office receives any hard copies of your tests, we will contact the students to visit us and pick them up. Most times, students are notified directly from the College Board via email about their test scores being ready to view. College Board Accounts are not managed by the School Counseling Office and are only available to students.
