SENIORS Please do not forget to apply for local scholarships!
While it might initially seem like a lot of work, winning a scholarship means that you receive free money that you do not have to pay back! Applying for scholarships is worth your time and effort! Please access the School Counseling website to review information about scholarships and the actual Local Scholarship Booklet: https://sites.google.com/colchesterct.org/ba-school-counseling/financial-aid-scholarships
An important note, the process to access local scholarships has changed slightly since the publishing of the Local Scholarship Booklet. To access the local scholarships on Naviance, please follow these steps:
1. Log in to FAMILY CONNECTIONS BY NAVIANCE at https://student.naviance.com/bacon
2. Click on Colleges, then select Scholarship Search from the popup menu
3. Click on Match and Filter in the right corner, select Scholarship Requirements from the popup menu
4. In Counselor Category select Local Scholarships and then apply your filter
5. Each scholarship has a separate application to print and fill out. (Please be neat.)
6. Write an essay (approximately 300 words) informing the scholarship committee about your ambitions, future plans and any information you feel is important. This must be your best work! Proofread and take your time!
7. Some scholarship applications require a specific essay. Read each criterion carefully!

ORDER YOUR SAPLING TODAY!
This year, students from Bacon AP Environmental Science Class are partnering with the nonprofit Tree-Plenish to help make their community more sustainable. They plan to plant 212 saplings on April 22, 2023 to offset their school’s energy consumption from the past academic year.
Residents of the community are able to help support the event starting now! They can order a sapling to be planted in their yard or sign up to volunteer to plant saplings on the day of the event. Saplings are $5 and residents can choose between Eastern Redbud, Flowering Dogwood, and Red Maple saplings. The more residents that request saplings, the faster the students are able to reach their goal. If residents are unable to order a sapling or volunteer their time, they can also make a monetary contribution on the Tree-Plenish website to help support future tree-planting events. Any business or individual who wishes to donate to the cause without purchasing a sapling, offsets the cost of the saplings for others.
For more information on volunteering , or to order sapling please visit the website for the event : http://tpevents.org/school/3047 or contact Jill Levasseur at [email protected].
