*Please note that our annual scholarship booklet will be handed out to seniors in late February.


*If your outside scholarship application requires a transcript and/or recommendation letters, please complete this form and hand in to our school counseling office with your completed packet and postage paid mailer.


*The New London County Bar Association:   scholarship to be awarded to one student within New London County who intends on pursuing a career in the law.  The recipient of the award will receive a one-time scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00.  All applicants must be a senior who resides in New London County or attends a high school located within New London County, with an expectation to graduate on time and an expectation of attending a college, university or other qualifying institution the following school year.  The award recipient will be required to show proof of acceptance to a qualifying college or university prior to receiving the award.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), must be accepted to a qualifying college and/or university and must demonstrate a commitment to public service and community involvement.  The deadline by which to submit applications is May 1, 2021.  Please mail COMPLETED applications to: NLCBA, P.O. Box 1052, Groton, CT 06340.  The recipient will be notified by phone, email and mail.

*The Faith Trumbull Chapter, DAR, Inc. :  Scholarship recipient is based on school records, financial need, clarity of college goals and personal potential.  Deadline for submitting applicaition directly to the Schoalrship Chairperson is April 24, 2021.  Please see the school counseling office for application. This is a very detailed application that must be mailed out from our office, so give plenty of time for turn around.  Please bring a mailer that is postmarked.

*Lighthouse vocational education center:  Meggie Dawn Memorial Schoalrship:  Awarded to a graduating high school senior attending college for education, therapy services or social work.  Applications are available in school counseling office.

*Ct AFL-CIO Scholarship:  Scholarship Essay Contest:  Please see school counseling office for application and information.  Essay topic this year will highlight the efforts and sacrifices of workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.  




The Ct State USBC Association:  2021 Scholar of the Year Award:

Eligibility:  2 $1,000 scholarships available.  Applicant or parent/grandparent needs to be a current member.  Applicant will be entering a college/university Fall of 2021.  Deadline is March 31, 2021.  The top five candidates will be required to atend an interview.

The American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences, Ct Affiliate

is offering one $1,000 scholarhsip to a graduating HS Senior who will be majoring in an FCS related area, or in FCS education in college.  The deadline is April 15th.

The Black Engineering Council of EB:

New London County Retired Teachers Association:

*Scholarship is offered to Seniors committed to pursing a Teaching Career.

The Ct Parks Association, Inc. 

presents the : Dennis Malone Memorial Scholarship Award Program.  Eligible for Seniors pursing a career in Park management, forestry, horticulture, agronomy, or closely related field.  Selections are based on financial need, academic achievement, and involvement in activities related to the intended course of study.  Please see link for details, application and dedline information.

Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc.  

The Middlesex Country Blue Star Mothers-Ct Chapter 3 is offering a $500 scholarship.  The scholarship will be awarded to a senior attending a 2 or 4 year college and who has a parent (or legal guardian) actively serving in the military or who is an honorably discharged Veteran.  The scholarhip application can be obtained in the school counseling office or there is an online portal:   The Deadline is April 2, 2021.

UAW: Marine Draftsment's Association:  

All applications must be received by mail only by April 30, 2021.  Paper applications can be obtained in the school counseling office.  This scholarhship is limited to graduating seniors whose parent or legal guardian is a Local 571 member in good standing.  


Charter Oak Credit Union

*Charter Oak is proud to offer at least one $2,000 scholarship to each high school with an enrollment of 100 students or more in New London and Windham counties. While we do consider an applicant’s individual academic achievements, our scholarship program focuses on how applicants have improved their schools and communities through extracurricular activities, individual community outreach, and involvement in community programs and activities. Professional Women in Construction

Ct General Assembly CWCSEO - African American & Latino Scholarship:

*Interested students are asked to fill out the attached application and return it via email to [email protected] by 5:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021. Awardees will be notified by CWCSEO staff by the close of business on February 28, 2021.

*The African American and Latino and Puerto Rican Sub Commissions of the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity will be offering 6 scholarships totaling $6,000.00 to African American and Latinx high school seniors that attend school and reside in Connecticut.

The African American Sub Commission will present the "Young Civic Leaders Scholarship". Three scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded to African American high school seniors.  

The Latino and Puerto Rican Sub Commission will present the "Latino and Puerto Rican Scholarship".  Three scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded to Latinx high school seniors.

Guidelines & Priorities:

  • Seeking graduating seniors with a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and/or participation in extracurricular school activities.
  • Applicants must plan to attend a two (2)-year community college or four (4)-year college or university.
  • Applicants must include one letter of recommendation from a Guidance Counselor, Teacher or Leader in any volunteer organization in which you participate.
  • Applicants must include a copy of their most recent unofficial transcript.

 Bo Kolinsky Scholarship

*The deadline to submit applications for the 2021 award is Feb. 19, 2021. 

*The Bohdan Kolinsky Memorial Sports Journalism Scholarship, presented by the Connecticut Sports Writers' Alliance, honors the memory of Bohdan Kolinsky, longtime school sports editor of the Hartford Courant, who died in 2003. The scholarship provides a one-time award of $3,000 to a high school senior from Connecticut who is admitted to an accredited four-year college for study leading to a career in sports journalism.

  • -Must be a United States Citizen

  • -Must obtain a basic SAT combined score of 1000 or a 22 composite score on the ACT

We look at a whole person concept when assessing applicants for selection. Much of this scholarship has to do with moral fitness, grit, and leadership ability. As an extreme example, I have passed up applicants with 1500 SAT scores and limited community involvement for applicants with 1200 SATs who overcame significant adversity and volunteered significant time in their communities. That said most competitive applicants will have the following in common:


-Around 1300 SAT   -3.5 or above unweighted GPA   -Varsity Athlete  -Team Captain, or Club President, or Student Government     -Extensive Community Service

Ct Children’s Medical Center Foundation: 2021 Isidore Wise Scholarship Program at Ct Children’s is now accepting applications.Through a competitive application process, the scholarships will be awarded to eligible high school students who will be completing their senior year in 2021 and attending an accredited post-secondary undergraduate institution in the fall. Only students who are past or present patients of Connecticut Children’s may apply. This year’s increased award amount will be six scholarships of $10,000 each. For application please go to:

Ride - 4- Justin

To be eligible to apply for the Scholarship you must be either:  a Firefighter, or the spouse, child, sibling or grandchild of a firefighter. 

Scholarship A will be awarded to an eligible applicant from the Southington Fire Department.  

Scholarship B will be awarded to an eligible applicant from any Fire Department in the State of Connecticut. 

The basis of the scholarship is defined by volunteerism. Because of the nature of Justin's life, everything was volunteering, whether it was for the Fire Department, the Lions Club, the Boy Scouts, Church or helping his friends and family. This is a rare trait and needs to be acknowledged.

BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.  Their participation may be in any capacity, whether as a player, coach or official.

Timeline:  Portal is open from Nov 1st through Feb 1st 2021   Notifications are emailed in May, Scholarship recipient names are posted in May.

*You will need to apply online.  Please keep in mind that your counselor will need to be invited to provide transcripts and 2 letters of recommendation.
