Project Graduation 

Project Graduation Needs More Help.  We are still in need of volunteers for our upcoming UCONN Women’s Basketball Concessions evening shifts on Thursday, November 10th and Monday, November 14th. We train you on the spot, it’s fun and easy, AND you earn funds directly for your student’s grade.

LAST DAY FOR FREE MEALS IS NOVEMBER 30, 2022

The School Meals Assistance Revenue for Colchester public schools will provide funds through November 30, 2022. On December 1, 2022, the district will revert to charging for meals. Please feel free to submit a  Free and Reduced Lunch Program application.

 

8th Grade Showcase November, Thursday November 17

You may have just started 8th grade, but soon you will need to make decisions about high school and the many options that are offered to you as a Bacon student. On Thursday, November 17th, Bacon Academy will be hosting an 8th Grade Showcase Night.  The evening will begin at 6pm on Thursday, November 17th in the Franklin “Doc” Gross auditorium.   We invite you and your parent/caregiver to attend this most informative night.   We look forward to seeing you on November 7th and welcoming you to the Bacon Academy Family!

Working Papers  

A reminder to families that all minors are required to have working papers when they become employed.  In order to receive working papers a Promise of Employment letter is required by their employer.   The letter is linked from the State of CT in regards to working papers for minors.   Please note that working papers can be obtained in the school counseling office.

 

DECA

Bacon Academy's Business Club will meet on Monday, November 7th, right after school in Room 3130.  We will be having a guest speaker talking about Teen Drivers and Insurance.  All students are welcome. Come be a part of the discussion, the activities and of course the snacks!

 

Yearbook SALES

The 2023 Yearbook is currently on Sale - The price is $65 until November 18th. After that the price increased by $10 for the remainder of the year. Students can Scan a QR code on one of the Jostens posters at Bacon Academy to get order information. Orders are completed online.  In addition, If you are receiving emails from Jostens - this is the yearbook company. Please take a look at them for information and offers.

Tutoring at Bacon

Bacon Academy National Honor Society is excited to again offer free tutoring for all students K-12, in all subject areas.  The flyer has all the information you need to sign up. 


Senior portrait scheduling - LAST CALL!

Legacy Portraits is excited to share their cover letter that will help families fulfill their senior's portrait needs. Whether it be for the yearbook or for personal use, the experience should be fun and seamless!  Sessions are being offered through the summer and in the fall.  If you have any questions, please call Susan McKiernan in the BA main office (860) 537-2370.

Dual Enrollment Classes:

 

Students please check in with your teachers to see enrollment instructions to obtain dual enrollment college credits in some of your classes.  ECSU, Uconn, Gateway Community College, Three Rivers Community College and the University of Bridgeport. If you haven’t brought your payment for ECSU classes, please bring payment to the School Counseling Office.  Uconn registration, enrollment and payment are all online through their portal.  Gateway, Three Rivers and The University of Bridgeport will be registering this month.  

*New this year is our partnership with the University of Bridgeport: They will be offering dual enrollment credits for the following courses: Accounting I, Business Law (both 3 credits) and Pre-Calculus (4 credits) for $50 per credit fee.  Registration, enrollment, and payment will be on a portal through the U of B - details will be given out in these classes.

 

 

 

School Counseling Website/Information

Information about College Board

Test scores are being released for the PSAT and SAT exams for both Sophomores and Juniors. When the School Counseling Office receives any hard copies of your tests, we will contact the students to visit us and pick them up.  Most times, students are notified directly from the College Board via email about their test scores being ready to view.  College Board Accounts are not managed by the School Counseling Office and are only available to students.  Students must keep their user name and password for access.   https://www.collegeboard.org/   Please visit the College Board website to access your materials, or if you have questions concerning sign on, their direct number is 866-630-9305.
