EXCITING NEWS FROM THE LMC

Announcing Be Well at BA, an annual one-day student support program for sophomore students. The day will include presentations, discussions, and activities focusing on health and wellness and will take place here, at Bacon Academy on Friday, April 1st and will last the entire school day. Sophomore students are asked to watch this short video and complete this Google form.

1032 NIGHT AT INISHMOR on Thursday, March 31

A portion of the proceeds for the day will go to the 1032 memorial fund which will create a dedicated reflection area at Bacon Academy to honor Jake Chapman & Tyler Graham.  Stop by, enjoy good food & spend some time sharing memories and making new ones.

Thursday April 7th the Rally Against Cancer will occur on the opening day of Major League Baseball

The Rally Against Cancer raises money for the Dana Farber Cancer Research Center and the Jimmy Fund in Boston and is sponsored by the Boston Red Sox. All money raised during this event goes directly to patient care and research that benefits all New England hospitals. 

On Thursday April 7th, please wear your favorite professional or college sports wear and donate to this great cause. The goal for the district is to raise at least $1000, which will go a long way to help those families in need. All donations are welcome and the more we raise, we may be eligible for items such as Red Sox merchandise, player visits, and game tickets. Let’s come together as a community, celebrate the sports teams we all love, and do some good for those around us.

STAR SEARCH

Star Search is returning to Bacon Academy on April 6th.  Auditions will be held March 31st in the auditorium.  Applications are due no later than March 30th.  Please see Mrs. Steele in room 2148 for an application.  Come show off your talents.

SENIOR CLASS NEWS

SENIOR TRIP

Will be on Friday June 3rd to Block Island. The event is all day and pricing will follow.

SENIOR PROM

Saturday May 7th at Aqua Turf. 

Cost is $90 per person. Any dues still owed will be added to the cost of the prom ticket 

Time: Prom is 6:00 - 10:30 pm.  Check-in Starts at 6:00 pm.  Doors close at 6:30 pm - arrival past 6:30 will not allow entrance

Any student who leaves before the end time will not be allowed to return back into the event.  Any student who leaves significantly early will have parents informed

Outside Guests are permitted but must complete Guest Permission Slip which will be on our google classroom page to print on March 30th.  Guest permission slips must be completed before a ticket is purchased for that person.  

Tickets go on sale starting April 4-April 13, which is the week before Spring break, and no ticket sales will occur after that date 

Tickets are non refundable as of April 15th regardless of reason for canceling after that date.  

Dinner will be a Sit Down Style Plated Dinner (not buffet style).  A seating chart is required by Aqua Turf. Students can not sign up for a table unless they have paid for their ticket; If a group wants a table together - I suggest all parties bring money on the same day to purchase tickets. Attire is Formal (Tuxedoes are not required)

 

Three Rivers Community College Open House

Tuesday, March 29th at 5p.m.  A showcase of what Three Rivers has to offer and they will be giving away a $1,000 scholarship to an attendee who has applied or applies to Three Rivers at the event. The open house is held at Three Rivers.

Cornhole Tournament – SAVE THE DATE! The rescheduled tournament is tentatively set for Saturday, June 4 at Hop Culture Brewery in Colchester. Registration opens April 1.Registration opens April 1!

JUNIOR STUDENTS & FAMILIES REMINDER

Junior Planning Meetings have been scheduled for the months of March and April.  A letter was sent home with this information, as well as an email.  You will also receive a calendar invite approximately one week prior to your scheduled meeting.  Please contact the School Counseling Office with any questions.

Pay to Play Payment Starts March 21st

If your student is participating in a spring sport, a Pay to Play Fee must be paid. The cost is $180 per student per season with a yearly family max of $540.  Please  pay using our online payment system. Cash or checks made out to Town of Colchester are also accepted and can be dropped off in the main office.  Please remember to complete the following form. Pay to Play Spring form

Class of 2023

Last call for class dues.  Please pay Mrs. Steele in room 2148 $10 for each year that you have not paid.  Please pay no later than February 4th.  Everyone should have paid $30 up to this point.

Junior Prom is scheduled for May 21st at Lake Of Isles located in North Stonington from 5pm-10pm.  The cost of the ticket is $85 per ticket and will be available for sale April 27, 2022 through May 4, 2022.  All obligations must be met prior to purchasing a ticket.  Please see Mrs. McKiernan to make sure you are cleared!

HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGE ALUMNI (ABCA) PRESENTS A LOCAL COLLEGE TOUR

This is an amazing opportunity to visit 6 local schools:  Monday, April 19th: U.S. Coast Guard Academy & Johnson & Wales University, Tuesday, April 20th: Central Ct State University & Southern Ct State University, Wednesday, April 21st: Uconn & Eastern Ct State University.  The Cost is a $50 deposit for 3 days of college tours.  The $50 deposit is refundable upon completion of the tours.  The bus departs from New London H.S.  A virtual interview will be planned prior to the trip.  Seating is limited.  For more information please visit the School Counseling Office for a detailed application or call Mr. Vouise Fonville at 860-460-4129.  Mask mandate and negative test results are necessary for participation.

Information about College Board

Test scores are being released for the PSAT and SAT exams for both Sophomores and Juniors. When the School Counseling Office receives any hard copies of your tests, we will contact the students to visit us and pick them up.  Most times, students are notified directly from the College Board via email about their test scores being ready to view.  College Board Accounts are not managed by the School Counseling Office and are only available to students.  Students must keep their user name and password for access.   https://www.collegeboard.org/   Please visit the College Board website to access your materials, or if you have questions concerning sign on, their direct number is 866-630-9305.
